As at every Olympic Games, the Australian Olympic Team will inspire our people to be their best and to live their lives by the highest values that sport embodies.

 

We know that you, your families and your coaches have made great sacrifices to become part of this team.  Years of determination and grit have gone into your selection and we honour you as our sporting best.

 

All Australians are in awe of the determination, the effort and the physical and mental discipline that you have shown to make it this far, and now the pinnacle is before you, competing in the Olympic Games.

 

In the days and nights ahead, 22 million people will gather together to be one great cheer squad for you.

 

In homes, schools, farms, hospital wards, army barracks, sporting clubs, shops, and on buses and trains, we will be watching or listening to your exploits in London.

 

All of Australia will stand with the Team in its triumphs and also in those moments when fortune and fate do not go our way.

 

Win or lose, we will all be in your corner, cheering you on.
